Understanding the real problem

SES needed to modernise a content-rich academic website serving prospective students, faculty and researchers. Editors required greater layout flexibility, while the platform also had to support multilingual content, structured academic information and secure access within the university environment.

Designed around people and operations

i2 reviewed the department's content journeys and developed a modular component library rather than relying on rigid page templates. Responsive behaviour, multilingual workflows and Microsoft Entra ID authentication were planned as integral parts of the platform architecture.

A system built to keep working

The new website gives SES reusable components for programmes, people, research, tables, news, events and image or video content. Editors can publish varied pages efficiently, while visitors receive a clearer experience across languages and devices.

Academic component library

Reusable image-and-text, table, grid, banner and carousel components support varied departmental publishing needs.

People and programme content

Structured layouts help visitors explore faculty, programmes, research information and departmental resources.

Secure university access

Microsoft Entra ID with SAML authentication supports controlled administrative access within the EdUHK environment.

News and event management

Dedicated publishing tools organise updates by year and optimise uploaded media for consistent display.

Trust is part of the architecture

Accessibility and inclusion

Mobile-first layouts, structured content patterns, readable information hierarchy and multilingual publishing improve access for students, researchers and staff using different devices and preferred languages.
