Environmental Conservation & ESG

Digital solutions for conservation and ESG programmes

i2 builds digital solutions for Hong Kong environmental conservation organisations and ESG programmes. Each platform can connect offline field data, volunteer management, reviewable evidence, dashboards, campaign workflows and impact reporting through one governed data model.

A conservation team recording field observations with a shared digital workflow.
Designed for

Environmental NGOs, conservation groups, citizen-science programmes, sustainability teams and organisations coordinating volunteers or ESG evidence.

The operational challenge

Conservation programmes collect observations in places where connectivity may be limited and where volunteers need a simple, reliable process. Paper forms and disconnected spreadsheets make validation, location data, media evidence and follow-up harder to manage. Reporting teams then spend time reconciling records before they can explain what happened. Sponsors and stakeholders may also need transparent methods and traceable evidence, rather than a polished claim without the underlying data.

What the solution can improve

Offline field-data capture

Give volunteers and field teams a guided mobile workflow for observations, location, media and required checks, then synchronise records when connectivity returns.

Reviewable impact evidence

Keep source records, validation status, approved calculation methods and reporting outputs connected so teams can explain how a figure was produced.

Volunteer and campaign coordination

Connect registration, skills, availability, waivers, event communication, attendance and follow-up through one permission-controlled workflow.

Mission Agents

Each Agent describes a practical role within a wider service workflow. Scope, data access and human review are configured for the organisation.

Agent A — Field Data Assistant

Concept

A mobile assistant that helps volunteers create more complete and consistent field records.

Input

A photo, selected observation, location and programme-specific form data.

Processing

Where appropriate, computer vision can propose a category or highlight missing information. Location, time and device data are added only with the agreed permissions.

Output

A structured record sent to the central Drupal data platform when connectivity is available.

Human oversight

Volunteers confirm proposed classifications and authorised reviewers validate records before they become reporting evidence.

Agent B — Impact Reporting Assistant

Concept

A drafting and analysis assistant that turns reviewed programme data into a consistent reporting workflow.

Input

Validated participation, activity, observation and outcome records for a defined programme or reporting period.

Processing

The Agent applies organisation-approved calculations and assembles a draft narrative with links back to the underlying evidence.

Output

A reviewable dashboard or report draft for staff to verify, edit and approve.

Human oversight

Subject-matter owners approve methods, conversion factors and final claims. The Agent does not certify ESG compliance.

Agent C — Campaign Coordinator

Concept

A workflow assistant for targeted volunteer communication and event preparation.

Input

An approved campaign need, location, timing, skills and safety requirements.

Processing

The Agent filters authorised volunteer records using the organisation’s criteria and prepares channel-specific messages and forms.

Output

A staff-reviewed call to action, RSVP workflow, directions, waiver and follow-up tasks.

Human oversight

Programme staff approve recipients, safety information and every outbound campaign before distribution.

How i2 delivers the solution

We start with the evidence chain: what teams observe, who validates it, which method turns it into a metric and who approves the final communication. Mobile forms and offline behaviour are prototyped with field users, not only office staff. The data model then connects observations, media, locations, participants and programme records to dashboards or reports. Integrations and calculations are documented so the organisation can maintain and explain the system after launch.

Responsible AI and data practices. Human oversight stays part of the service.

AI can assist with classification, quality checks and drafting, but it should not hide uncertainty or create an environmental claim without traceable evidence. Proposed categories remain reviewable, calculation methods are versioned and final impact statements require an accountable owner. Location, volunteer and media data are collected with clear purpose, access and retention rules appropriate to the programme.

Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before we build.

Practical answers about scope, data, accessibility and the role of people in the workflow.

Can a conservation app collect data without mobile coverage?

Yes. Selected forms, reference content and captured records can work offline and synchronise later. The design must define what is stored on the device, how conflicts are handled and when a record becomes reportable.

Can AI identify species, waste or environmental observations from a photo?

Computer vision can propose a classification where suitable training and reference data exist. The result should show uncertainty and remain subject to confirmation by a volunteer, reviewer or subject-matter expert.

Can an ESG impact-reporting platform produce a report automatically?

It can assemble reviewed data, apply approved calculations and prepare a consistent report draft. The organisation remains responsible for the reporting method, evidence, interpretation and any claim of compliance.

How does the system keep impact figures traceable?

Source observations, validation status, calculation versions and approved outputs can be linked in one data model. Reviewers can then see how a reported figure was produced and which records support it.

Can the platform manage volunteers as well as field data?

Yes. Registration, skills, availability, consent, event assignments, communications and attendance can be connected to programme and field records with role-based permissions.
