We are thrilled to showcase our collaboration with The Hong Kong Society for the Aged in redeveloping the eElderly Portal into an innovative online Virtual platform, poised to meet the evolving needs and aspirations of the elderly and caregivers, establishing it as the leading Elderly Portal in Hong Kong.

The primary objectives of this project were to:

1. Create a Vibrant Virtual Community: Our aim was to develop an Elderly Virtual Centre that provides a lively and secure online environment for elderly users and caregivers. The platform facilitates various interactive and engaging activities including live virtual classes, hybrid classes with physical centers, community events, direct video chats, and extensive discussions.

2. Expand Functionality: We worked to enhance the existing features of the eElderly Portal, transforming it into a comprehensive Elderly Virtual Centre. This new platform offers a wide range of experiences, from literature classes to computer courses, health workshops to virtual travel and museum tours, and current event conversations to impromptu chats.

3. Foster Collaboration among NGOs: To promote active aging and overall well-being among senior citizens, we collaborated with multiple non-governmental organizations. Through this partnership, we designed the Elderly Virtual Centre to be a unique combination of information and services, encouraging collective efforts in supporting the elderly community.

4. Expand Social Networks: Our goal was to transform the existing platform into a convenient Elderly Virtual Centre, specifically targeting less active young-old or elderly individuals who may not participate in traditional elderly centers or social groups. To achieve this, we implemented a mentorship program, training a community of middle-aged and retired individuals as digital mentors. These mentors actively manage information, answer inquiries, raise new discussion topics, and establish silver market forums with positive and inspiring messages within the Elderly Virtual Centre.

Through our collaboration, we successfully achieved the following outcomes:

1. Engaging Community: The redesigned Elderly Virtual Centre offers a vibrant and safe virtual space where elderly users and caregivers can interact, learn, and make new friends. The inclusion of diverse activities and discussions ensures a rich experience for all participants.

2. Comprehensive Services: The Elderly Virtual Centre combines information and services, providing a one-stop platform for the elderly community. Users can access a wide range of resources, classes, workshops, and social engagement opportunities, promoting active aging and overall well-being.

3. Collaborative Network: By engaging multiple non-governmental organizations, we fostered collaboration and collective efforts in supporting the elderly community. The platform serves as a hub for organizations to share resources, expertise, and initiatives, amplifying the impact within the senior citizen ecosystem.

4. Expanded Social Connections: The Elderly Virtual Centre successfully encourages less active individuals to expand their social networks. The digital mentorship program facilitates connections while ensuring that users receive guidance and support from experienced mentors.
